The Northwest Hospital Gamma Knife Treatment Team

  
Ronald F. Young, MD Medical Director

Dr. Young is a specialist in stereotactic radiosurgery and in neurosurgical treatment of intractable pain and movement disorders including Parkinson's Disease, Essential Tremor, and Trigeminal Neuralgia. He has been using the Gamma Knife to treat brain tumors, AVMs and functional disorders of the brain using the Gamma Knife since 1991.

Dr. Young received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. His postdoctoral training included a surgical internship at the University of Minnesota Hospital and residencies in Neurosurgery at the VA Hospital, Long Beach, California and the State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, New York.

Dr. Young currently holds medical licenses in New York, California, Hawaii and Washington. He has been certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons since 1976 and has been an American College of Surgeons Fellow since 1981. Highlights of Dr. Young's career include terms as president of the Western Neurosurgical Society, the Society of University Neurosurgeons and the Southern California Neurosurgical Society. Dr. Young has also served as chairman of the International Leksell Gamma Knife Society.
